Dronfield v Mosborough Under 8's - Sunday 17th March
It was bitterly cold and as the players warmed up, snow began to fall. It was of no consequence. The iron will and grit of the young fellows soon melted the ice, and the sun came out.
Mosborough assembled a strong team of Conor, Archie, Eli, Finn and Henry. Dronfield had enough players for 3 teams.
They all played exceptionally, each individually contributing and pulling together as a team across each match they played.
Communication was excellent - cries of “Defensive line on me!” rang out across the field. Passing was really good. Slick and accurate. Finn was on fire today, hammering home try after try, and henceforth shall be named the “machine”. Archie put in some cracking accelerating tries, nimbly darting through the Dronfield defence. Conor put in a number of excellent tries - sprinting and pivoting through to place the ball over the line. Henry put constant pressure on Dronfield always driving to get a tag, and tucked away a cluster of well executed tries. Eli, the rock, pushed forwards, communicating always and landed some excellent and well thought out tries spotting gaps wide and capitalising on them.
A fantastic effort, in tough, muddy and cold conditions. Each player, showed tremendous grit and determination and a sign of a strong team for next year. All rewarded with chips and sausage butties!
Man of the match voted for by the players - Archie!
Well done all and to Eden, Kyan, Becky and the parents.
