Under 13's vs Hull Ionians Match Report

Date: Sunday 02 December 2018

It was a very cold morning but the sun was shining. Mosborough were expecting a tough game against a very well organised 16-player strong Hull Ionians team. Unfortunately, Mosborough only had 9 available players, so Hull kindly lent us four of their players so we could have a game, which kicked off just after 11:30am.

Hull started strongly and scored 4 tries but Mosborough wasn’t going to give up - they battled hard with good tackling from Matt and good runs from Deacon. Through grit and determination, Mosborough battled back and managed to pull it back to 4-3, with one try by James and two from our "borrowed" Hull players. However, as the game went on, the Hull side got stronger and stronger and managed to score three more tries.

Very much to their credit, the Mosborough lads did not give up but carried on going as best they could. David, in particular, never stopped trying despite suffering from a chest infection and Sam proved to be a powerhouse in the rucks! But perhaps the best and most pleasing aspect of the game was the way in which the "borrowed" Hull Ionians players contributed to the Mosborough effort, playing as hard as they would for their own team and celebrating with the Mosborough team when they managed to score a try!

Every single Mosborough player did the club proud today, despite the disappointing scoreline they showed the very best of what we value most at Mosborough - team spirit, hard work and sportsmanship!

Any of the nine players out there could have been the Man of the Match but the award went to Warren Gilbank in the end for his overall work rate and excellent effort - well done to all of the lads and the Hull Ionians players as well!
