It was a bright start on a cold morning as Jacob ran in a try straight from kick-off. Barnsley gathered themselves after that but George was to cross the line for a 2nd try to Mosborough after a good, hard-fought battle between the 2 sides.
It was Tariq next to break free with a great drive forward before unselfishly offloading just short of the line for George to drop it over for 15-0 to Mosborough.
Jacob, Tariq and George (3 times) all added to the score, the latter of which saw George running 2/3 of the pitch for the try.
A good run from Barnsley resulted in a try for them bringing the score to 40-5, however 2 more each from George and Tariq and tries for Will, Joseph, and Jacob kept a very healthy and unassailable cushion.
Barnsley had one more try in them and it wasn’t begrudged by the watching Mosborough parents as it was scored by a Barnsley player that had pulled on a Mosborough shirt for the 1st half and delivered some crunching tackles and good runs against his parent team.
The forwards were, as usual, a huge part of this win and were solid and disciplined in defence and strong in the rucks and scrums and there was even a catch and run from Alfie. Determined tackling from Charlie, Alex, Brooklyn and everyone else, created the space and possession for the backs to do their work. Everyone in the team can be proud of their performance and contribution on the day.
Barnsley played their full part in this match and, though it wouldn’t quite be correct to say they were unlucky to concede so many, each try was hard-earned and showed the magnificent team work and ability to implement the learning from training of this Mosborough side, as always a credit to themselves and their coaches.
Sunday’s match also saw a debut for a young referee, who did a great job officiating his 1st solo match. His father was moved to email the club commending the team on being respectful and supportive to his son on this occasion, which is, again, a great credit to all.
