Under 14's Match Report

Magnificent Under 14's run riot against a firm Heath side

A much awaited, game day for the under 14's squad over at Heath today (Yes Ester Halifax not Chesterfield). The drive may have be a long one but the teams were all smiles on this beautiful sunny morning. A welcoming arrival and a buzz was in the air. Pumped up ready to go!

With our historic setbacks, there was an air of positivity from the offset. As the rays shone down, the anticipation was building, and possession was in the Mosborough's hands. With the first contact of the game Reuben was off! Blood oozing from his nose, “I got the ball thou” JJ supporting and a good dose of Vaseline, he was back in the game. Within seconds James provided a mighty forward dash for the line, ploughing through anyone in his path, quick thinking passing to Callum to nail their first Try!

Bursting with confidence the teams heads were up and ready to go again, the success continued Joel try! And again… Try! Followed by tremendous kicks of conversion! The game was truly of the team was fired up beaming from ear to ear, congratulations and clapping in support of each other! Leading to Reuben wanting a piece of the action, with a little showboating to score under the posts.

More team play followed allowing Joel to hit the jackpot again with another try! With a miss of the conversion drifting just right of the post! As the breeze gently ruffled the golden autumn trees, Baileys crunching tackles, Jack securing the ball and Addison showing his power by driving through! Princess (Connor) charged for the line, powering his way down the length of the pitch, handing off to score…. TRY! Bailey stepped up to the conversion, swallowing hard he took a deep breath, and powered it through!

Beaming with pride he headed back to his mates and shared celebrations! Unfortunately good things can come to an end, with a day dreaming Mosborough squad, the referees whistle blew and Heath took their first try of the day, a great kick from their number 10 sealed the deal. Unlucky boys – No unicorns where flying today- switch on!

As the game rumbled on, one parent stated “ Its refreshing to see the training is action” with Joe providing a cracking tackle, Callum powering through the pack to Reuben for another try! With Joel hitting the target from the right side of the pitch!

Half time saw team talks, highlighting the key performance celebration with critique for the forwards to support –“Sam pick up and go!” While work rate was slowing support to pick up was needed! A gentle reminder of ball handling reminding them that two hands is so important and tins of beans were coming to training Tuesday (Bizarre I know! But trust the coach at all times) Arms in, heads together “123 squeeze” Followed by a wine of “Arrhhhh me elbow”.

The second half saw Alfie furiously ploughing through with Mathew supporting and yes! James using 2 hands! Passing to Bailey, weaving through the pack like a needle through thread. No knots on this boy! With an unlucky knock on Alfie lost possession of the ball not for long though, he wanted the golden egg back! An excellent steal, ripping the ball like a tiger eating its prey!

Quick thinking Princess, took the ball and volleyed it to the 5 meter line, Line out! James try! (fiver for u kidda) With an unlucky conversion from the parents touch line, the team’s heads were strong and focused to continue! With the idea of five pounds still floating in his mind, James took the ball, with one hand placed the ball in the centre of the posts! No holding back Callum stepped up to the marker and Boom! Followed by another try from Princess and a cracking conversion from Addi – Smiles all round!

Not finished yet, in the final moments of the game, Joel Try! Sams cracking conversion just skimming under the post- Next time it yours! With an almighty run Heath were back in the game, with a brilliant try which saw Addison shaking hands with the Heath player – showing true Mosborough spirit and values. Moments before the final whistle Sam needed a part of the action with a cracking try to the left side of the pitch! Joel again nailing the difficult conversion!

Final Whistle- Proud team is an understatement! Fantastic game, true rugby spirit and boys that just never give up- games will get harder but today’s performance matched the weather! – Well done kids.

Training Tuesday! With Beans! Or maybe a pineapple (had to get it in!)
