The under-12’s away match had the unusual element of us loaning players to the other side rather than the other way round. Pleasingly, those that swapped shirts put their all into the game and didn’t let their temporary team mates down, though swapping shirts was a little academic as both sides played in the same colours with similar kits.
The game started tightly with possession to-ing and fro-ing with good defensive and attacking play before George broke free to make it 0-1 to Mosborough. He added another before Chesterfield’s first reply and the third ended 2-2.
Mosborough, though, took full control when play resumed. Tariq powered through almost the full length of the pitch to make it 2-3 followed by George also tearing up the full pitch for 2-4 Mosborough. Tariq and George were again the try scorers to go 2-6 up and Jacob chipped in with the scoring for 2-7. The same trio added another try each to end the 2nd third 2-10 Mosborough. One of the tries in particular came from some excellent Mosborough interplay and passing.
George opened the scoring for the final 3rd but by now was playing for Chesterfield, 3-10. From the kick off Jacob restored the lead cushion. Chesterfield, again through George, pulled one back only for Jacob, once again, to reply, 4-12. Chesterfield finished strongly with 3 unanswered tries but it was Mosborough’s George that got them all and the game ended 6-12 to Mosborough.
It’s very likely that the Man of the Match award for both sides went to a Mosborough player…
